Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran is an American businesswoman. The Corcoran Group, an NYC-based real estate brokerage was started by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran later left the company. Corcoran was one of the original Shark Tank investors. She has appeared on every season of ABC's Shark Tank. In February of 2020 Corcoran had signed 53 deals, the most significant being a $350,000 deal that included 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second child of 10 children born to an Irish-Catholic couple working in the middle class in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mother and also a housekeeper. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. her father, was a multi-talented worker throughout Corcoran's early years. Her family sometimes relied upon free food delivery from a local, friendly grocery store. Corcoran remembers her father as a man who occasionally consumed too much alcohol and was rude to her mother and contempt, particularly when he'd been drinking. Corcoran struggled with her education and was diagnosed with dyslexia. Corcoran started in high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood following her time at an Catholic primary school. Corcoran completed her studies at Leonia High School with a degree in English after having failed several classes during her freshman years.
